Gaby Collette's Mopar Collection

1975 Dart Sport

This was my first car. I've owned it now for 28 years. I bought it in Steinbach (at a Ford dealership, go figure) Aug 7 1977. It is equipped with a 318, 3 speed o/d transmission. It is basically original other than the sunroof. As I am writing this it is being prepped for paint. You should see me this summer with a dual snorkel scoop, wing and fresh bumpers.

1967 Chrysler New Yorker

This car I acquired when I did work for an individual who wanted to trade me the car for the work. It took me 2 seconds to decide. I painted the car, some minor interior work, pulled out the drive train and changed seals and gaskets. It is a 2 door hardtop, buckets, console with a 440 four barrel. This is a very nice driving car. I was fortunate it still had the certicard under the hood and I was able to trace its origin. I did bring it back to a lady in Selkirk who owned the car for over 20 years. She told me that since her husband had past away she didn't know what to do with it. Both her children were in Calgary and she told me that both of them used this car for their licenses and that her daughter used it for her wedding car. She was almost in tears when she saw it. It made all the work restoring it worth while. Actually my daughter got married this past May and wanted to use the New Yorker for the wedding car so I thought it only natural they keep it, so I gave it to them as a wedding gift. The car now resides in Lorette.

1971 Dart GT

Since I have 3 kids but I only had 2 cars I thought it only natural that I look for a project car. One day while driving through Steinbach I spotted this lady driving this rusted Dart. I didn't know what this car was equipped with but I could see all the parts were there, so I followed her and asked her if she was interested in selling. Approx. 8 months later she phoned me back and a deal was done. I then found out the this car used to belong to Aime Verrier. That is when I started to worry a bout why Aime, being a Big Mopar Fan, would not take it back. Well after new inner fenders, front fenders, floor pans, trunk extensions, torsion bar frames, quarters, rockers, capped rear frame, frame connectors. I then moved to interior. This was minor compared to rest. I put in new carpet and did some minor seat repairs. Now for the power-train. The slant 6 just wouldn't do so in came a K member with big bolt pattern and disk brakes., the rear end was from a 74 Valiant, it is a 8 1/4 with 11 inch drums ( again big bolt) As for engine I put in a 360 from a 79 Magnum. I had a mild cam installed and ported the heads, as well as converting it to electronic ignition. Now for the body I purchased hood scoops on Ebay from 69 Super Bee, a wing, some paint and custom striping a pair of original Dart GT emblems on the rockers, (These should be treated like gold, extremely hard to find) and viola!!! Most of the work was done by myself and my brother who helped me out with bodywork and paint. I am proud of the fact that this took us just slightly over 1 year.

1957 Dodge

Now since all my kids are taken care of, I thought I should look for myself. I've always been a fan of 57 Dodge with the fins and one day while surfing Ebay I spotted this 2 door hardtop in The Pas which was going to be delivered to Wpg. So I thought to myself where else am I going to get a car like this in Wpg. I bid it with 2 minutes to go and viola!! It had a freshly rebuilt 313. The interior was clean but it did need paint. This was a 20 footer (Look great at 20 ft but did need work up close) I really enjoyed the looks I got from driving this car and I had dual antennas and fins. I drove it for slightly over 1 year

1968 Coronet 500

This car I accidentally stumbled upon while going through a wrecking yard. I was looking for parts for my Dart when I spotted the Coronet. It was somewhat of a nightmare trying to buy it but 2 weeks after acquiring the 57, the Coronet came up. My intention was to restore the 68 and sell it. So I started with front fenders, rocker, quarters, trunk, new interior, out came 318 and in came 383 four barrel with magnum cam. Again I found hood scoops, new paint and custom striping. The hub caps I bought on Ebay. Thanks to Aime for numerous parts. All this work was done in approx. 8 months. I wanted to have then all completed for my daughter's wedding. I made it but had a few bugs on the way
