Llew Taylor's 1984 Daytona Turbo Z

The 1984 Daytona Turbo Z represents a different time for Mopar Muscle. The 80s brought us all kinds of unique and unusual social and cultural changes, which included changes in the the automotive industry. The 1984 Daytona Turbo Z was the beginning of the Turbo Dodge performance era and carries through to modern Mopar SRT4 products, including the SRT4 Neon, PT Cruiser GT, and the SRT4 Calibre just to name of few. Basically "found in a barn in New Brunswick", the car was purchased from the second owner, who only had it about a year. However, the previous owner was a neighbor to the original owner. The car was bought over the phone and sight unseen in November of 2009. Risky? Well, considering the great shape the car was in, it was a risk worth taking. After a years worth of work, the car was about 90%+ complete by November 2010. Restored as a nice looking and nice riding driver car (it is not a "perfect" restoration), it always brings a smile whether its from onlookers or the driver! TaylorLlew

The list of repair and replacement parts is simply too long to list, however, the majority of the car is still stock and still original, even down to the original owner's manual and broadcast sheet that came with the car. Unfortunately, not all could be had or be saved. The original spoiler and skirts are no more, as well as the 1 year only wheels. Event though the wheels could have been saved, a cleaner and more modern look was desired so a simple, clean looking 5 spoke was chosen over the stock original wheels. When the car was painted, the lower body panels were painted to match the wheel color. The loss of the spoilers and skirts do not detract from the look of the car now, its still instantly recognized by those in the know. The 80s "porno red" interior does raise a few eyebrows though and a few LOLs on the net.
